Polonaise in Polman Stadium for FC Utrecht

03 maart 2019

Domstedelingen beat direct opponent Heracles in Overijssel 1-5.

FC Utrecht beat Heracles Almelo Saturday in the Polman Stadium with a clear difference: 1-5. Goals by Sander van de Streek, Willem Janssen, Gyrano Kerk, Simon Gustafson and Riechedly Bazoer were the start for a polonaise in Overijssel with FC Utrecht and  196 away supporters.

FC Utrecht created three big chances to score the 0-3. Chances, shortly after the break, to give Heracles Almelo, playing with ten after a foul by Jesper Drost on Sean Klaiber,  the final blow on their own artificial grass. Because leading by three goals and with one man more on the pitch should be enough to win the game. But that goal was scored at the, for FC Utrecht, wrong end of the pitch.

Five exciting minutes
A good header by the Spaniard Adrián Dalmau after an assist by Lennart Czyborra put Heracles Almelo back in the saddle. One hour played, the score 1-2. The supporters in Overijssel became the eleventh man that coach Frank Wormuth's team missed on the pitch. The tension was back in the game. But not for long. For five minutes to be precise. And then Gyrano Kerk finished a golden sprint with a good and hard diagonal shot: 1-3.

Not a step back, but a scoop on top
That blow by Kerk was too much for Heracles. FC Utrecht on the other hand got wings, knowing the three points were most likely theirs. Head coach Dick Advocaat's team did not take a step back, but put a scoop on top. Simon Gustafson and Riechedly Bazoer both scored from the penalty spot and added their share to the party: 1-4 and 1-5.

Again Van de Streek opened the score
The opening dance in Overijssel was led by Sander van de Streek. The attacking midfielder scored the 0-1 after ten minutes, the fifth time this year he scored the opening goal for the Domstad team. Five minutes after the break captain Willem Janssen doubled the lead. With a good header he put 0-2 on the scoreboard

Fifth time five goals
The win in Almelo was the first FC Utrecht away win with a difference of at least four goals since the 0-4 victory over sc Heerenveen in Friesland on March 5 2016. The Eredivisie game against Heracles was the fifth in FC Utrecht history in which they scored five goals. It happened before in 2015 against NAC Breda (1-5), in 2012 against Willem II (1-5), in 1998 against RKC Waalwijk (2-5) and in 1976 against VVV-Venlo (1-5)
