For the fourth game in a row, FC Utrecht took all three points in the Eredivisie. Head trainer Dick Advocaat’s team was a size too big for ADO Den Haag this afternoon (Sunday). At 3-0, the team in red and white were too strong for the team in yellow and green.

Utrecht never gave up and victory was theirs. With the score at 1-0, Oussama Tannane won a corner halfway through the second half. It’s a good score for the home team but they have to be constantly on their guard. The corner turned the match. Captain Willem Janssen of all people guided his team into the safe haven of a 2-0 lead.

Kerk swings, Van Overeem scores
Ten minutes later and there was no longer any doubt about who would take the points. Gyrano Kerk opened his box of tricks on the right flank and at speed gave a killer through-ball. It split ADO’s defence and reached Joris van Overeem free in front of goal. The midfielder did what was necessary and decided the game 15 minutes before time: 3-0.

Dessers breaks his duck
Utrecht got off to a flying start, taking the lead after just seven minutes. ADO keeper Indy Groothuizen completely miskicked the ball. It sliced under his foot  and bounced slowly towards the goal. Groothuizen chased it but so did FC Utrecht striker Cyriel Dessers. The Belgian saw it bounce off the post and land straight in front of his boots. The 1-0 was no more than a simple tap-in. Dessers scored his first goal in the league to break his duck this season in the Galgenwaard.

Nothing for the visitors
It was a good afternoon for Utrecht. The game wasn’t always of the highest quality but there were chances for both sides. Apart from the three goals, Utrecht came close thanks to Urby Emanuelson, Sean Klaiber, Tannane and Simon Gustafson. But Utrecht also lived dangerously at the other end of the pitch. Keeper David Jensen had to keep his cool when it counted. The Dane stopped attempts by Lex Immers, Tomas Necid and others, and denied ADO any hope they might have had of taking something from the Domstad.

Vitesse away, then De Graafschap at home
Utrecht’s next opponents come from Gelderland. Advocaat’s team are away to Vitesse on Saturday 10 November; then, following an international week without league football, the opponents in the Galgenwaard on Sunday 25 November are De Graafschap.
