This afternoon FC Utrecht played an away match against Willem II in Tilburg. For a long time it seemed the match against the Tilburgers would end in a 0-0 draw. A late goal by captain Willem Janssen changed this. The Dom City players beat Willem II 0-1.

Goalkeeper David Jensen was in goal with his black cap on, focussed on the ball. A Tilburg cross from the right just went a bit too high for striker Fran Sol. Just a few minutes later there was a cross from the left. This Willem II attempt ended right beside the goal of the Dane. The Tilburgers were on the offensive, but did not manage to score.

Match winner
For a very long time it seemed that both teams would have to share the points.  Even though Willem II and FC Utrecht had many opportunities, neither of the two teams managed to score. But then there was the 87th minute and the Dom City players were allowed a corner. Nicolas Gavory sent the ball into the box from the left. No one else but captain Willem Janssen headed the ball into the left corner with confidence, behind goalkeeper Timon Wellenreuther. Just before the end the defender decided the match: 0-1! En masse the FC Utrecht players ran towards to away area to celebrate the goal.

Post hit twice
The Dom City players had the opportunity to take the lead earlier on. Fifteen minutes before the end Lukas Görtler was launched with a through pass. Goalkeeper Timon Wellenreuther advanced from goal, the FC Utrecht striker saw it and kicked the ball. His shot passed the goalkeeper, but ended against the post. The ball bounced back from the aluminium towards the German striker. Görtler did not hesitate for a moment and tried to pass the Willem II defender again with a shot. His second attempt hit the post again! Such bad luck for the German.

Wellenreuther
A major obstacle to the Dom City players? Goalkeeper Timon Wellenreuther was indeed. In all kinds of ways FC Utrecht tried to get the ball into the Willem II goal. And time and again it was the German goalkeeper who managed to keep FC Utrecht from scoring. In total FC Utrecht took twelve shots at goal. In the 87th minute Wellenreuther finally had to collect the ball from the net after all.
