FC Utrecht and FC Groningen both took a point in the game in Stadium Galgenwaard Thursday evening. Willem Janssen scored the 1-0 early in the game, but fifteen minutes before the end Tom van Weert equalised: 1-1.

There were many. Chances that were. Chances for FC Utrecht, when they led 1-0. Many opportunities to double the lead. But FC Utrecht did not turn the chances into goals. Whoever got the ball, however favourable his position, FC Utrecht did not manage to score the second goal.

Chances
After a good cross by Zakaria Labyad, who got nicely served by Giovanni Troupée, Gyrano Kerk did not manage to beat Sergio Padt. And a few moments later Kerk shot the ball over the goal. Dario Dumic went into the box, but his header did not end up in the goal and Troupée also could not shoot on target from a nice position.

Old football rule
When Labyad also created some danger twice – a shot and a free kick went over the goal – and still there was no second goal, the old football rule again showed: when you do not score, your opponent will. That opponent turned out to be Tom van Weert. The striker cashed a penalty cold-headedly: 1-1.

Not at gunpoint
In the remaining fifteen minutes neither of the teams managed to push through in a warm Stadium Galgenwaard. A draw then being the logical result.

Heracles-Almelo away next hurdle
De Jong’s team will now focus on the away game against Heracles Almelo. That game will be on Sunday April 29 in the Polman Stadium. Over 200 FC Utrecht supporters already bought their ticket to support the team in Almelo.
