The last match of the calender year 2017 is one for FC Utrecht to quickly forget. The Domstad players suffered a 3-1 defeat against NAC Breda in the Rat Verlegh Stadium.
It is a goal that sparks hope. There are still fifteen minutes to play in the Eredivisie match NAC Breda – FC Utrecht and being down 2-0 is reduced to 2-1. It is Cyriel Dessers himself who performs optimally in the stadium in Breda and scores on behalf of the Utrecht squad.
Bring on the rush
Let the Utrecht rush begin. NAC Breda are under pressure and seem to falter. It is now a question of pursuing the pace, a question of sending long balls into the box and providing Mark Birighitti with a bad evening.
Angelino passes sentence
The equaliser is not scored. On the contrary: in the fourth minute of the extra time Jose Angelino Tasende puts an end to the unscertainty. The Spaniard is awarded a free kick after being fouled by Rico Strieder, who has to leave the pitch after a red card, his second yellow. Angelino splendidly curls the ball into the corner: 3-1.
FC Utrecht have a difficult match on the pitch in Breda. The team find it difficult to deal with the players from Breda, who take the lead in the middle of the first half via the Spaniard Pablo Mari. Halfway the second half it is the other Manchester City hireling who strikes on behalf of the Pearl of the South: Thierry Ambrose hits the net at close range: 2-0.
The winter break now starts for FC Utrecht. The Domstad team resume the competition with a home match against AZ on Friday 19 January 2018.
