In the first home game of this Eredivisie season FC Utrecht picked up three points. In a short period of time FC Utrecht scored two goals and that was also the final result in Stadium Galgenwaard.

With their hands on their knees, looking down towards the pitch. And then a look around. What they saw were celebrating FC Utrecht supporters, cheering, players. It was dazzling. The players of Willem II did not seem to have a clue what was happening to them in the opening phase of the game. Not even seven minutes had been played and FC Utrecht led 2-0 already.

Dream start
FC Utrecht opened the first home game of the Eredivisie on a whirlwind like manner. The stadium DJ barely turned off ‘Eye of the Tiger’ or he could start ‘La Cucamarcha’ already. The person responsible? Zakaria Labyad. It took him two turns to beat the Tilburg goalkeeper Timon Wellenreuther. A dream start, 1-0 in the second minute already.

Emanuelson, Görtler, Dessers: 2-0
Striker Lucas Görtler, who started for the first time for FC Utrecht, was explicitly involved in the 2-0. After a sophisticated pass by Urby Emanuelson the German faced his fellow countryman playing for Tilburg. Görtler did not manage to pass Wellenreuther, but did provide for Cyriel Dessers to score. And so the Belgian did. In the seventh minute it was 2-0. Dessers celebrated his third Eredivisie goal in two matches at the highest level in Holland. ‘On fire’ is what they say on social media.

Another clean sheet for Jensen
After the two quick FC Utrecht goals the fire seemed to disappear. The first half was great to watch with chances for more than the two goals scored. After the break Willem II did try to reach the FC Utrecht goal, but they never managed to put real pressure on goalkeeper David Jensen. Another clean sheet for the Danish goalkeeper.

Debutants
In the second half two players made their Eredivisie debut for FC Utrecht. In the seventieth minute Bilal Ould-Chikh came onto the pitch for the first time for FC Utrecht and later Odysseus Velanas followed. The midfielder from Zeist, who played in the youth teams of FC Utrecht, substituted for Zakaria Labyad.
