A spectacular match between FC Utrecht and Feyenoord ended in a 3-3 draw tonight (Sunday). The Rotterdammers drew thanks to two goals in the dying minutes.

A hard drive, and the explosion of joy was enormous. Six minutes before the end Sébastien Haller netted the ball from approximately twenty metres with force and conviction. The score was 3-1 and FC Utrecht were heading for a victory which it deserved more than anything else, against Feyenoord who were seldom strong enough in a seething Stadium Galgenwaard.

Backlash
The festive atmosphere suffered a backlash when Nicolai Jørgensen netted the ball 3-2 from close quarters in the final minute of the regular play. When the fourth official Edwin van der Graaf put up the board showing an additional nine minutes of play – the match had been at a standstill because of an injury to Robbin Ruiter who was substituted by David Jensen fifteen minutes before the end  - it became clear what the Utrecht players’ mission was: consolidate the score for another ten minutes.

Equaliser in extremis
They did not succeed. In the very last minute Feyenoord were allowed a corner and all eleven players advanced forward. One of them had the opportunity to head the ball and that was Michiel Kramer. The substitute striker headed the equaliser into the goal. He was the one who determined the outcome of a match that FC Utrecht deserved to win.

Haller and Troupée
In this match the players from Utrecht took the lead twice. In the second minute of the first half Haller scored 1-0, but two minutes later Dirk Kuyt counteracted fast (1-1). In the seventh minute of the second half Giovanni Troupée made smart use of the rebound after a Yassin Ayoub shot and scored 2-1. It seemed a prelude to three points for a long time. Until the ninety-ninth minute. That was one minute too long.
