FC Utrecht started the second half of the season with a defeat. The Domstad team did not score in the away game against AZ and went home beaten 3-0.
Fifteen minutes before the end of the game substitute Sander van de Streek received the ball in the Alkmaar penalty area. The FC Utrecht midfielder turned away from his opponent and took a shot on Maco Bizot’s goal. The ball went wide. It was a typical moment for this evening in which FC Utrecht had difficulty creating opportunities.
FC Utrecht did have more possession in the second half, but the Domstad team did not create any real chances. The final blow came at the end of the game. Calvin Stengs received the ball after an FC Utrecht corner. The AZ striker took a run, dribbled past the FC Utrecht defence and shot the ball behind goalkeeper David Jensen: 3-0.
Goalkeeper David Jensen pobably felt bad about the second Alkmaar goal. It was almost half time when Mats Seuntjens decided to fire a shot at the edge of the penalty area. The ball went straight towards Jensen, who , very unlucky, saw the ball slip through under his leg. Just before half time the Alkmaar team took a comfortable 2-0 lead.
