FC Utrecht beaten by AZ

22 oktober 2017

Players from Domstad could not get a grip on players from Alkmaar: 3-0.

This afternoon (Sunday) FC Utrecht failed to harvest a profit in Alkmaar. The players from Utrecht lost 3-0 in the AFAS Stadium against AZ, who were the deserved winners when you look at the most opportunities.

This Sunday afternoon Pluvius cannot be denied any sense of drama in Alkmaar. Just when the match is drawing to a close and has in fact been decided, the rain god opens up the gates. It starts to pour in the AFAS Stadium and that creates miserable settings for a nasty afternoon for FC Utrecht. The score is then 3-0 and though there are still left a few hundred ticks on the clock, everybody knows: today the three points are for AZ.

Jensen kept busy
The players from Alkmaar grabbing the loot, is surely well-deserved. John van den Brom’s team has more opportunities and enforce victory as it were, whereas the players from Utrecht hardly succeed in approaching AZ goalkeeper Marco Bizot. This goalie is forced to act a few times for that matter, but approximately one hundred and ten metres across the pitch David Jensen is far busier.

Line-up debutant opens score
After twenty minutes the Dane has to allow the first goal. AZ line-up debutant Teun Koopmeiners receives the ball at approximately twenty metres from goal and fires a biting shot. The ball ends in the corner: 1-0. After sixty minutes’ play AZ strike again, just after Jean-Christophe Bahebeck is forced to leave the pitch and is replaced by Cyriel Dessers. After an accurate Thomas Ouwejan cross, Alireza Jahanbakhsh hits the net.: 2-0.

Van Overeem decides the final score
Ten minutes before the end Janbakhsh gives an assist. The international from Iran gives a through ball to Joris van Overeem, who avoids being off-side and who sees eye-to-eye with Jensen and decides the match with a clever ball. With the outside of his foot Van Overeem fires the ball into the far corner: 3-0.

Wednesday cup football day
On Wednesday FC Utrecht are again facing an away match. Trainer/coach Erik ten Hag’s team will then visit VVV-Venlo. The match of the second round of the KNVB Cup will be played in Limburg at 18.30. The next FC Utrecht league game is on Sunday 29 October. NAC Breda will then be visiting Stadium Galgenwaard.
